So well done. The premise of this book is so believable that you don’t have to park reality to just fall into the story. She has struck the right balance between description/detail and action/plot to paint a wonderful picture as she keeps the story moving effortlessly. It's not often you encounter a book that truly surprises you. Genre fiction is full of the same repeated tropes and ideas, which can be really entertaining, but also leave you feeling you've read the same book five times. I was delighted to sink into June's story (a truly original character) and follow her high stakes fight for her son's survival. This novel carries the pathos of a classic novel, but with a modern pace and perspective. Great for readers who are looking for something a little deeper than the classic '16 year old running away from the evil empire' premise.
The race for a cure became mankind's downfall.
